Tim Douglas 'On Fire' in Vegas Net, As....
AA LAS VEGAS TAKES THE GOLD AT THE SOUTHWEST!!!
By Lee Samuels
Salt Lake City - Goalie Tim Douglas, on fire his last three starts, was spectacular and teammates Conrad Trimbath, Evan Zucker and Ryan Krajniak
scored as AA Las Vegas won their biggest game of the season, 3-0 over the #1 rated AA Long Beach Jr. Ice Dogs midget majors to capture the Southwest League Championship today.
It is the second Southwest championship for Las Vegas but this one, Pallin said, "is more satisfying...
"Three years ago we were favored to win and we did it," said Pallin. "This time we were seeded
#4. It's more satisfying as a coach to see your players go out there, over-achieve and win these games. You come here, see the competition and you cannot go out and skate your normal game. You must step it up. Douglas gave us
all he had in the net, but so did Brandon Rial when he beat Long Beach in the first game here...
"All of our defensemen played so well in these last several games," Pallin said. "You win something like
this you know that each and every skater contributed to it."
Trimbath and Zucker scored in the first period, then Krajniak added the clinching goal in the third.
Each of the Outlaws received a championship
award. A large Championship banner, with each name written on it, was also given to GM Gene Krametbauer.
RINKBOARD NOTEBOOK
- This was one of AA Las Vegas' greatest runs of wins ever....In gold medal game Outlaws bench coaches said Anthony Marinello made a monster-like hit which took a whole lot of steam out of the Ice Dogs....All Outlaws 'D-Men' played well in front of Douglas including young Ryan Bowman, an '89 who turned up his game considerably during the playoff-eliminator phase of the tournament.....
