4.01.04 At the AA Rebels Team Dinner... ANTHONY GREENER NAMED LAS VEGAS 'SKATER OF THE YEAR!

Anthony Greener joined an elite group of skaters when the high-scoring, hard-working forward was named the Las Vegas 'Skater of the Year' at the AA Rebels midget major team banquet at the downtown Las Vegas Club on Monday night.
It was an upbeat, festive evening as the Rebels celebrated a 30-19-9 season which included three wins during the recent Tier II Pacific District Championships.
That marked the fourth straight season a Rob Pallin-coached team won 30 or more games, a phenominal record on the midget major level.
This was a special team for Pallin who did not have one single
returning starter. Yet, the Rebels opened the season with a 13-0-2 record which included wins over AAA teams. At the recent regionals, the Rebels put together one of their season-best efforts
and upset a bigger, hard-skating Paramount Panthers team, 4-3.
"Coach Rob found a formula which worked," said center Conrad Trimbath. "We worked together as a unit and we were able to win 30 games."
Greener was responsible for much of that success. He attacked the net fiercely on a top line which included Kurt Long and Trimbath.
Greener was the leading scorer with 34 goals, 38 assists for 72
points; Long has a team-best 36 goals and Trimbath had 15 goals, 31 assists.
"I want to thank my Dad - he's one of the older Dads on our team
-- but he always got me to the rink, even at 4 or 5 in the morning," Long said.
The Rebels had plenty of snipers on the team including Max Maleev (35 goals), Anthony Marinella (20),
Sammy Micco (16), Brandon Young (11), Nick Jackson (10) and young defenseman Ryan Bowman (10).
The 'All Heart' Award, twice won by Spike Neely, went to Nick Jackson and Ryan Krametbauer. This is an
award given to skaters who give it their all, each and every moment while on their shift - much the way the highly-energized Neely played the game as a midget major in Las Vegas.
The Rebels also saluted assistant coach Bobby Kintzler with an 'Inspirational Award.'
Kintzler is the former state trooper who was struck by a speeding SUV on Highway 95 on April 21, 2001. At
the time, two patrol cars were in pursuit of a speeding vehicle and Kintzler was ahead, laying down a tire-track of nails to halt the runaway car.
However, he was struck by the car and nearly died.
He has had more than 20 operations.
He was at all of the Rebels practices this season and was one of the assistant coaches on game day.
The Rebels skaters presented him with an autographed team photo and he was in all of the individual photo-taking during the evening.
